(Ottawa, Canada - November 11, 2002) Industry Canada and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) have extended an invitation to Cyril Soga, Vice President of Global Research and Development at Eftia OSS Solutions Inc, to join their "Quality of Service" Business Mission in India. The select group of technology leaders will travel to the cities of New Delhi and Bangalore, between the dates of November 12th to 15th, 2002, to demonstrate how the products and services of successful Canadian telecommunications firms can enhance India's overall telecom experience.
Industry Canada, who planned the event in conjunction with the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi, and the Canada Trade Office in Bangalore, is hoping the mission will help to assimilate these and other Canadian suppliers into on going development work being accomplished in the area under CIDA's guidance. As one of the world's most rapidly growing markets, with a substantive hunger for technology and the monetary means to acquire it, India represents a significant opportunity for Canadian companies wishing to expand into the Asian markets.
Participating organizations will have their "quality" expert prepare a presentation that demonstrates a high-level understanding of quality issues in India's telecommunications industry, including current trends. Each presenting company will then have the chance to build vital partnerships and alliances as they will meet with representatives from the Indian Government, trade associations and other organizations within the country to gain insight into what market opportunities exist and how best to effectively access them.
Contributing to the development of Indian telecommunications has been an on-going goal at CIDA and it is hoped that this mission will allow Canada to become a major source of technical assistance and facilitate follow-up business for the Canadian companies involved and others that follow.
According to Soga, who will be presenting on the management of Service Level Agreements, it is easy to see the benefits that Eftia and other Canadian firms will reap from such a mission. "Not only will this enterprise, by enabling the companies involved to convey Canadian expertise to the Indian market, place Canadian technology in a predominate position, it will also give Canadian firms access to influential Indian government and private sector officials," says Soga. "Eftia, who already has its own offices in Mumbai, is excited about the opportunity this presents. We are primed to become a leader in telecom in Asia, and our involvement in this mission will only further strengthen the foundation that we have already created."
